This half-term we have been delving deep into the lives of the Ancient Egyptians. In DT we followed a design specification for death masks, planned what ours would look like and created them. We learnt that the Egyptians wore masks for two purposes- as death masks or as ritual masks. It was very important for the Ancient Egyptians to preserve the body of the dead because the soul had to have a place to dwell after death. It was also important for the soul to recognise the body after death, so it could return to it- for this reason, death masks were created. We had to follow a design specification.
