Pupil Voice at the Heart of Collective Worship
At St Stephen’s CE Primary School, we believe children should have a meaningful voice in the spiritual life of our school.
Our Collective Worship Council is made up of pupils from Years 1 to 6, with one Collective Worship Councillor representing each class. This ensures that children of different ages across the school can contribute their ideas and share the views of their classmates.
Helping Our Worship Grow
The Collective Worship Council meets every half-term to discuss and evaluate Collective Worship at St Stephen’s.
Councillors consider what children enjoy and value about worship, gather the views of their classmates and suggest ideas for how Collective Worship could be developed and improved.
Through the council, children learn that their opinions matter and their ideas can make a difference.
Developing Young Leaders
Being a Collective Worship Councillor gives children opportunities to develop leadership, confidence, responsibility and oracy.
Our councillors listen to others, share ideas and help us reflect on how Collective Worship can continue to bring our school community together and support our Christian vision and values.
Most importantly, our Collective Worship Council ensures that pupils are not simply participants in worship — they have a genuine voice in shaping it.
Together, our councillors help Collective Worship at St Stephen’s to Nurture, Grow and Flourish.
