Apply for a Place at St Stephen’s CE Primary School

If you are looking for a primary school place in Bradford, we would love you to consider St Stephen’s CE Primary School.

St Stephen’s is a two-form entry Church of England Voluntary Aided primary school in Bradford, with places for up to 60 children in Reception each year.

We warmly welcome applications from families of the Christian faith, other faiths and no faith. We simply ask all families joining St Stephen’s to respect the distinctive Christian ethos that is an important part of our school community.

Reception Admissions 2026

Children normally join Reception in September of the academic year in which they turn five.

For Reception admissions in September 2026, our Published Admission Number (PAN) is 60 places.

Applications for Reception are made through Bradford Council’s school admissions process. The closing date for September 2026 applications was 15 January 2026, with National Offer Day on 16 April 2026.

If you are applying under our faith criteria, you will also need to complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form.

Nursery and Reception Admissions

Please remember that Nursery admissions and Reception admissions are separate. Attending St Stephen’s Nursery does not automatically guarantee a Reception place.

How do I apply for an in-year school place?

If you are looking for an in-year primary school place in Bradford, applications are managed by the Local Authority. Places are offered where available in accordance with our published admissions arrangements. Please come into our school office for help with this and we will guide you through the process.

What happens if there are more applications than places?

If St Stephen’s receives more applications than there are places available, applications are considered using the oversubscription criteria in our published Admissions Policy.

Can I appeal if my child is not offered a place?

Yes. Parents and carers have the right to appeal against the refusal of a school place. Full information about the appeals process is included in our Admissions Policy and is available through the Local Authority Admissions Team.
